Voicemail SMS Scam

They’re incredibly annoying, text message from unsolicited numbers stating “You have received a new voicemail” with a web link (URL) that points to some random destination. They’re all scams. So, aside from the fact messages nearly always includes a spelling or grammatical errors, [sic] “+You have received e new vofcemail” (the symbol at the beginning of the message is there to force-sort it to the top of the stack when SMS are organised by ‘from’ or ‘alphabetically’, it relies in the User prioritising the message over others as a result), if the number sending the message is not known, the random link in the message gives the game away as all service providers send mail from their own (sub)domains, e.g. *@vodafone.com, *.@ee.com etc.

Similarly messages for orders made, or deliveries expected, from numbers unknown to URL’s that have nothing to do with the supposed Seller, Amazon, Wayfair etc. Needless to say don’t click the links and do not call them back (often reverse charge premium number scams).
